What Impact Will You Make in This Role?
  • Assess the full indirect tax implications of new business initiatives, including structural and organizational changes, and provide effective tax cost management advice as necessary.
  • Clearly communicate these implications to stakeholders, ensuring understanding, and serve as a subject matter expert for any subsequent business or compliance process changes.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company's existing indirect tax positions at both practical and legislative levels, articulating these to tax authorities during audits or proactively.
  • Assist in managing audits and disputes with tax authorities, including any related litigation, while overseeing necessary third-party relationships.
  • Stay informed about the VAT landscape within EMEA, monitoring case law and legislative changes to ensure the company's indirect tax positions remain appropriate, and communicate any changes in risk profile or opportunities to leadership.
  • Support the Indirect Tax Director in identifying VAT risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Tax Leadership to contribute to Indirect Tax lobbying through various channels and networking events.
  • Serve as the day-to-day Indirect Tax Subject Matter Expert on broader EMEA regulatory projects related to Indirect Taxes, such as e-invoicing requirements and regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain open communication channels with the Compliance team to ensure that decisions are effectively integrated into VAT return procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with corporate tax and transfer pricing teams, as well as Indirect Tax colleagues in other regions, to facilitate knowledge sharing and mitigate broader tax risks.
  • Partner closely with the Tax Accounting team and local/regional finance teams to ensure proper accounting and communication of VAT exposures.
  • Assist Tax colleagues in reporting Indirect Tax developments to the company's leadership teams as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in indirect tax, gained in a reputable professional or large multinational corporate environment.
  • Proven understanding of UK and EU indirect tax regulations and emerging legislation across the EMEA region.
  • A relevant professional qualification (e.g., accounting, tax, or legal).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate analysis into actionable solutions and clearly interpret data to identify potential risks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to simplify and explain complex technical issues to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to build relationships across functions, levels, and regions, exhibiting a collaborative approach.
