Role Overview

Norwich University of the Arts is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Course Director to lead our esteemed Games provision in BA Games Art & Design and BSc Games Development. As a key member of our academic team, you will be responsible for advancing and growing the vision of the disciplines at Norwich, driving innovation and excellence in teaching, research, and industry engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of high-quality academic programs in Games Art and Design, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Computer Arts and Technology to advance the disciplines, debating and contributing to contemporary shifts in the industry and society.
  • Contribute to new course development in postgraduate and short courses areas, working closely with industry partners to ensure relevance and impact.
  • Develop and maintain strong networks between education and industry, fostering partnerships and collaborations that benefit students and the wider community.
  • Provide academic leadership, management, and promotion of the awards, ensuring excellence in teaching, research, and student outcomes.

Requirements

  • Substantial knowledge of the national and international games sector, with a background in an area directly related to the games industry.
  • National profile as a creative practitioner, industry professional, and/or researcher, with specialist subject knowledge in a relevant curriculum area such as Concept Art, Asset Production, Indie / Games Development, Games programming, etc.
  • Strong network of industry partners and ability to develop and deliver significant collaborative projects.
  • Experience of developing new courses, particularly postgraduate and short courses.
  • Excellent teaching skills, with a commitment to inclusivity and student-centered learning.
  • Ability to work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, bringing diverse voices into our student experience and ensuring culturally competent support.

  • Experience of leading academic teams and managing budgets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with industry partners, colleagues, and students.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
