Our Manchester division is in search of a Sustainability and Carbon Team Leader who possesses exceptional expertise in integrating sustainability into extensive infrastructure initiatives and corporate frameworks. Our Sustainability and Carbon team offers guidance to clients on how to reduce their carbon footprint while enhancing performance across various sustainability dimensions. Our projects encompass industry-leading Decarbonisation and Net Zero Roadmaps, Whole Life Carbon Assessments, Sustainability Evaluations, TCFD, and Carbon Accounting, among others, all while utilizing cutting-edge digital tools. Given the comprehensive nature of sustainability and the necessity for extensive action, our team collaborates across multiple sectors, including large-scale energy projects, water management, rail, highways, airports, and both local and central government.
The ideal candidate will work in collaboration with various teams throughout the organization, engaging at both strategic levels and through the lifecycle of significant infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee carbon management, sustainability initiatives, and net zero strategies for our existing portfolio of major infrastructure projects and strategic clients.
- Spearhead the creation of innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions, and management plans.
- Manage and coordinate sustainability contributions on major infrastructure projects.
- Represent the company at external networks when necessary, enhancing personal, team, and company reputation.
- Lead and support bid proposals, contributing to the authorship of submissions and ensuring that win themes are consistently maintained.
- Guide the Manchester/Northern team of sustainability and carbon experts, fulfilling line management responsibilities and fostering team development.
Requirements:
- Candidates should hold a degree in an environmental or engineering-related discipline and be chartered with a recognized professional body.
- Prior experience and current knowledge in areas such as carbon accounting, decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, sustainability assessments, whole life carbon, sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy, and supply chain engagement are essential.
- Strong report writing, communication, and presentation skills are required, adaptable to various audiences, seniorities, and technical competencies.
- Familiarity with UK sustainability and carbon guidelines and standards applicable within infrastructure and corporate reporting across both public and private sectors is necessary.
- A commitment to lead, support, and develop direct reports within a team is crucial.

Rewards and Benefits:
We provide a competitive salary regularly benchmarked against other consulting firms, along with a default of 25 days of leave each year, plus bank holidays, and options to buy or sell leave. Salary and benefits will align with experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:
This role may require security clearance, and offers of employment will depend on obtaining the necessary level of clearance. If this is applicable, it will be discussed during the interview process. The vetting process is conducted by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK for five years or longer.
