Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity exists for a qualified Band 7-8a (Preceptorship) Clinical or Health Psychologist to become a vital member of our evolving Paediatric Psychology team. This role is integral to our mission of providing comprehensive psychological support to children and young individuals facing the challenges associated with chronic health conditions.

Role Responsibilities

The Child Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for delivering specialized psychological evaluations and therapeutic interventions for children, adolescents, and their families referred to our multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging effectively with children and young individuals coping with chronic health issues and their caregivers.
  • Providing expert guidance to team members regarding psychological strategies and offering insights into the psychological aspects of physical health care.
  • Working autonomously while adhering to professional guidelines set forth by relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Supervising and mentoring trainee psychologists, while also participating in research and development initiatives.
  • Contributing to continuous professional development and participating in performance appraisal processes.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A BPS accredited Honours degree in Psychology or an equivalent qualification.
  • A Doctorate in Clinical, Counselling, or Health Psychology, accredited by the BPS and HCPC.
  • Relevant specialist training in working with children and families.
  • Registration with the HCPC and eligibility for chartered status.

Additionally, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Post-qualification experience in providing psychological support to children and families.
  • Experience in working with young individuals with chronic health conditions.
  • Expertise in various therapeutic modalities and the ability to conduct comprehensive psychological assessments.
