Job Summary

The Rigid Pipeline Engineering Lead will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of rigid pipeline engineering on a project or tender basis. This includes engineering input to/from fabrication and installation, ensuring the overall engineered rigid pipeline performance as a sub-system is optimized.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of rigid pipeline engineering, including engineering input to/from fabrication and installation.
  • Recommend the most cost-effective pipeline system solution to be selected for the project.
  • Ensure all in-place and mechanical design aspects of the pipeline subsystem are optimized and communicated as input to the project's installation/offshore fabrication strategy.
  • Dimension the rigid pipeline solution and provide in-field inputs to the Material Take-Off (MTO).
  • Assure a robust in-service design and provide engineering inputs required for the procurement and fabrication of the rigid pipeline scope.
  • Coordinate the technical support of rigid-related equipment as procured by the project.
  • Interface with clients and Internal Vendor Briefings (IVBs) on all rigid pipeline engineering topics.
  • Own engineering activities, including Cost, Time, and Resource (CTR) management, Quality of Deliverables, and Schedule.

Requirements

  • Holding a high-quality honors degree or equivalent in a relevant field of engineering, such as Mechanical, Naval, or Civil Engineering, with solid knowledge of materials (metallic and plastic).
  • Good level of relevant experience and/or understanding of the application of engineering theory of rigid pipeline behavior to a range of specific and general pipeline design issues.
  • Demonstrate the following competencies on a consistent basis:
    • Experience in Reel-lay, S-lay, and/or J-lay.
    • Operational project experience from other phases, such as fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
    • Good awareness/experience of interfacing with other disciplines taking part in the execution of a Subsea Umbilical, Risers, and Flowlines (SURF) scope.
    • Scheduling and costing appreciation of scopes.
    • Example of past differentiation or innovation that helps lower the risk, cost, or schedule of a design or operation.
