The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Childcare Specialist to join our team at Riverbank Cottage. As a Specialist Childcare Worker, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for young people with complex trauma-based behavior.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote the well-being and resilience of young people.
  • Deliver high-quality care that is informed by a deep understanding of trauma and attachment theory.
  • Support young people to develop positive relationships with staff and peers, and to build on their strengths and abilities.
  • Participate in the development of psychological formulations that inform and direct care provision.
  • Engage in good child care practice, recognizing and setting limits of behavior, and providing controls to traumatised and vulnerable young people.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to crisis situations, using initiative and sound judgment.

Requirements

  • Hold a Level 3 Diploma for residential childcare (or equivalent) or be willing to work towards this.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to supporting and caring for vulnerable and traumatised young people.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in trauma-informed care.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team, and to communicate clearly and respectfully with colleagues, young people, and families.
