Position Overview

The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Nursing Leader to oversee the Cardiology division within the Heart Centre. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the department and enhancing patient care.

In collaboration with the Divisional Nurse, Clinical Director, and Operational Service Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the strategic goals of the service. As a vital member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for the effective management of daily operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards, performance metrics, and financial objectives.

Your responsibilities as the Cardiology Nursing Leader will include providing direction, encouragement, and support to our dedicated team. You will utilize critical thinking in clinical decision-making to foster a safe and efficient environment for both patients and staff. Joining a passionate team, you will work collaboratively to ensure that nursing and other clinical services are delivered to the highest standards, aligned with both local and national healthcare strategies.

We are looking for a Nursing Leader who is exceptionally skilled, driven, and proactive, with a proven track record in clinical and personnel management. Key Responsibilities

The Nursing Leader will be accountable for the seamless operation of the Clinical Directorate, focusing on achieving quality, performance, and financial targets while implementing significant service enhancements.

The successful candidate will provide both professional and managerial leadership to nursing staff within the Clinical Directorate, contributing positively to the healthcare delivery across the local health community.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant professional/clinical qualification (RN and/or RM)
  • Educated to degree level or possess equivalent experience
  • Current or ongoing Masters level study in management is advantageous
  • Extensive experience in operational and strategic management within an acute hospital setting in a senior nursing role
  • Proven ability to lead significant change and deliver sustainable improvements
  • Experience in developing business and workforce plans aligned with future service needs
  • Comprehensive understanding of key NHS issues, including relevant guidelines and governance
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a focus on motivating staff and enhancing performance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with senior clinical and managerial colleagues
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and promoting equality of opportunity for all
