Role Summary:
The Mechanical Design Engineer will engage in comprehensive design tasks related to the production, procurement, service support, and technical documentation of mechanical systems, specifically within hydrogen energy applications. The successful candidate will ensure that all designs adhere to the highest safety and quality standards while meeting project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design hydrogen-related equipment, including refueling stations, fuel storage systems, and installations.
  • Conduct supporting calculations, such as flow, pressure, structural, heat transfer, and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Create 3D CAD designs.
  • Collaborate with controls and electrical engineers to facilitate comprehensive system design.
  • Prepare part specifications and manage the procurement process.
  • Develop technical documentation and operation & maintenance manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental protocols.
  • Maintain project documentation, including Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) records.

Success Metrics:
  • Completion of mechanical design projects with associated documentation and CAD models.
  • Designs that are compliant with budget and schedule requirements.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant mechanical engineering field (e.g., structural design, machine design, pressure vessels, fluid dynamics).
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in construction or civil engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with metalwork and piping.
  • Proficiency in both 3D and 2D CAD software, specifically Autodesk Inventor.
  • Knowledge of structural and pressure vessel regulations.
  • Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interpret P&ID diagrams.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and providing engineering solutions.
  • Essential knowledge of small bore piping and pipe bending.
