Position Overview: Service Estimator

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Cannock

United Plant Services is a distinguished engineering and asset management organization, recognized for delivering exceptional engineering support and fleet management for Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) within the quarry and waste sectors. As part of The Briggs Equipment Group, we are a prominent provider of asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland. Your Contributions:

  • Adhere to company Health and Safety protocols, ensuring the safety of colleagues and clients.
  • Produce competitive Parts and Service estimates aimed at achieving or surpassing sales objectives.
  • Maintain clear communication with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring they are well-informed and their expectations are managed.
  • Take ownership of the estimate generation process, focusing on timely conversion to sales while managing customer expectations.
  • Identify and optimize business opportunities to enhance revenue and profit margins.
  • Collaborate closely with the Service Administrator to oversee any purchase order accruals.
  • Foster relationships with the engineering supply chain, including parts, third-party services, and other resources.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet customer expectations in alignment with the company's contractual obligations and KPIs.
  • Ensure the highest standard of service is provided to customers, with effective follow-up and resolution of issues.
  • Work in tandem with team members and Regional Managers to generate accurate first-time estimates.
  • Manage the estimate process through to job completion, including updates and obtaining authorization for any overruns.
  • Ensure that purchase order numbers are secured before commencing any billable work.
  • Monitor all pending estimates, ensuring they are addressed within a maximum of 7 days.
  • Assist with call handling and job logging as needed.
  • Support the training of new team members.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment and provide assistance to colleagues when necessary.
  • Perform any reasonable tasks as requested by the regional line manager.

Key Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical environment.
  • Proven experience in estimating work.
  • Experience in liaising with supply chains.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • Proficiency in Excel for data management and reporting.
  • Industry knowledge to foster supply chain innovation.
  • Exceptional communication skills across all levels.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
