Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient maintenance of the school site, including technical and administrative duties to ensure effective use of facilities. The role requires a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure all roads, paths, and school grounds are maintained and clear of obstructions, taking necessary precautions in inclement weather.
  • Supervise cleaners to ensure all duties are fulfilled and proactive planning is in place.
  • Plan and carry out repairs and maintenance to ensure the general upkeep and maintenance of the premises.
  • Monitor and operate the heating system, advising management of any faults to ensure economical use of fuel and water.
  • Maintain and monitor Health and Safety standards, keeping records and paperwork up to date.
  • Act as Fire Warden and assist with regular school fire-drills, recommending improvements to safety where necessary.
  • Manage and maintain the Legionella Management plan and act as tap turner.
  • Have an outline understanding of Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, Asbestos Management, Legionella Management, Fire and Bomb Management, COSHH, and RIDDOR.
  • Update and uphold all H&S policies and procedures to ensure the safety of children and visitors to site.
  • Carry out a preventative, planned maintenance programme and undertake routine inspections of buildings, fixtures, fittings, and grounds.
  • Be proactive in planning repairs and maintenance to ensure the school and site are maintained to the highest standard.
  • Be aware of and comply with all policies and procedures, including H&S, Security, confidentiality, data protection, etc.
  • Adhere to the school's Safeguarding Policy, which safeguards and promotes the welfare of all children.

  • Two satisfactory references
  • Verification of qualifications
