About the Role

Aspens Services Ltd is a leading contract catering company specializing in school food. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Relief Chef Manager to join our team.

The Relief Chef Manager will be responsible for supporting the catering facility for schools within their region, assisting with operational and financial performance. The successful candidate will focus on delivering the highest quality of food and service, as well as driving sales through monthly promotions and added value events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead, develop, coach, train, and motivate kitchen teams to achieve exceptional food and service standards.
  • Operational Management: Support control of catering operations, including stock, food, and labor costs, to ensure efficient and profitable service delivery.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure consistency of food and service standards delivered to students and staff, maintaining high levels of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Sales and Marketing: Drive sales through monthly promotions and added value events, increasing revenue and market share.
  • Cost Management: Manage and improve all controllable costs, ensuring optimal profitability and efficiency.
  • Menu Development: Oversee menu development, ensuring menus are appealing, nutritious, and meet customer expectations.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Maintain company systems and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation and minimizing risk.
  • Audit and Quality Control: Carry out regular audits to ensure standards are being met, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

About You:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Relief Chef Manager who shares our passion for delivering exceptional food and service to our schools. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • OND or HND Qualification: A relevant culinary qualification, such as an OND or HND, is desirable but not essential.
  • Driving License: A valid driving license is required for travel between schools and company locations.
  • Craft Based Experience: Proven experience in using fresh ingredients and preparing high-quality dishes.
  • Health and Safety Knowledge: A good understanding of health and safety practices, including food safety and hygiene.
  • Financial Acumen: A basic understanding of gross profit management and achieving sales targets.
  • Line Management Experience: Proven experience in leading and managing teams, including coaching, training, and developing staff.
  • Similar Environment Experience: Experience working in a similar environment, such as a school catering or contract catering company.
