We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the State University of New York at Buffalo. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, conducting cutting-edge research in the field of molecular virology and immunology.

Research Focus

The Boliar lab is focused on understanding the mechanisms of HIV-1 persistence in tissue-resident lung alveolar macrophages and its impacts on macrophage innate immunity. The postdoctoral associate will work closely with scientists at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Clinical Research Program in Blantyre, Malawi to investigate viral genomic and transcriptomic profiles in infected alveolar macrophages and how the cellular distribution compares in anti-retroviral treated or untreated study participants.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in BSL2+ lab with HIV-1 virus, molecular virology, cell culture, cloning, RNA biology, and flow-cytometry/sorting.
  • Collaborate with international research teams to advance our understanding of HIV-1 latency/persistence.
  • Develop and implement novel research strategies to investigate the role of host-dependency factors in HIV-1 persistence.
Requirements

PhD graduate in the field of virology, immunology, or biochemistry.

Salary Range: $47,500 - $65,000

Work Hours: 40

Campus: Downtown Campus
