Postdoctoral Research Associate in TB Research

LSTM seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join its clinical sciences team in Liverpool. The postholder will support the design, delivery, and evaluation of person-centred mixed methods TB research, focusing on addressing social determinants of TB and evaluating TB diagnostic test combinations within two large research consortia.

The successful candidate will work closely with international partners to conduct a comparative intersectional analysis of social determinants influencing health inequities in Nigeria, Malawi, Uganda, and Kenya. They will also coordinate activities between LSTM, partner countries, and key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of study activities and data presentation to policymakers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing effective integrated strategies for sustainable, acceptable, and affordable TB case detection, care, and treatment
  • Supporting ongoing social determinant health systems research
  • Preparing and facilitating workshops
  • Developing a shared bibliography resource and updating it with relevant literature on social determinants and TB diagnostics
  • Carrying out other tasks relevant to the post, including policy briefs and communications
  • Supporting the delivery of LIGHT capacity strengthening and safeguarding strategies

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, well-developed research skills, and experience working in health development or implementation in low-income countries. They will also have experience in conducting implementation research, research in social sciences, health economics, and international health, as well as academic paper writing and international presentations.
