About the Role

We are seeking skilled Plumbers to operate within our friendly, supportive and multi-skilled technical team to undertake planned maintenance, installation, alteration and repair work.

The University of York offers an attractive and welcoming working environment, covering 400 acres across sites in Heslington plus City Centre locations, including the recently refurbished Guildhall. You will be working on a variety of building types and technologies, providing essential support to a diverse community of staff, students and the general public who use these facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake planned maintenance, installation, alteration and repair work
  • Work on a variety of building types and technologies
  • Provide essential support to a diverse community of staff, students and the general public

Requirements

  • Craft trade apprentice, trained to City and Guilds Level in the core trade or equivalent qualifications or experience
  • Full UK Driving licence
  • Current in date domestic gas safe qualification
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations & procedures, for example COSHH and risk assessment
  • Demonstrable building services experience obtained within a building services environment and knowledge and ability to implement practical techniques used in relevant work area
  • Extensive experience of health and safety risk management techniques which are applicable to an estates function
  • Ability to assess non-routine problems by suggesting solutions
  • Flexible approach to workload and hours in order to meet changing needs or circumstances
