Job Overview

As the Orthopaedic Service Coordinator at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional support for patients throughout their entire care journey.

Your primary responsibility will be to maintain high standards of patient care by delivering an efficient and effective administrative service to the Consultants, designated Medical Staff, and Specialist Nurses.

You will serve as the initial point of contact for all communications directed to the Consultants and their team. This includes overseeing the consultant team's schedule, managing both inpatient and outpatient commitments, and relaying appointment and admission information to patients and their caregivers.

Your efforts will contribute to the administrative processes that guarantee patients are seen within the required waiting time targets as stipulated by NHS Constitutional Standards.

Your work location will be determined based on the specific vacancy, primarily at one of our hospitals.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for coordinating and providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Consultant and their team for both Admitted (Inpatient) and Non-Admitted (Outpatient) patient pathways.

Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • A-Level education or Level 4 qualification, or demonstrable relevant experience/senior administrator training.
  • Formal training in secretarial or senior administration roles.

Desirable

  • Training in customer care or similar fields.

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Proven experience in supervising a team.
  • Experience managing a team within a large, complex organization.
  • Evidence of job-related achievements from previous employment.
  • Familiarity with the 18-week patient pathway.

Desirable

  • Experience within the NHS in an Acute Trust setting.
  • Insight into the significance of NHS performance metrics.
  • Understanding of outpatient service structures.

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with additional office software packages.
  • Understanding of NHS/Foundation Trust structures and culture.
  • Experience in developing administrative processes.
