About the Role

Securitas Security Services is seeking a highly skilled Security Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our security contract, ensuring seamless service delivery that meets client and management standards. Utilizing our Quality Management System (QMS) process, the successful candidate will measure and report performance at regular Key Performance Indicator (KPI) meetings, demonstrating our commitment to excellence.

Working Monday to Friday (50 hours per week)


Job Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the daily running of the contract, including timely recruitment and training for staff to meet contract requirements, and undertaking performance management or disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Liaising with our Support Team to gain accurate advice and acting within current legislation and best practice in all aspects of employee relations.
  • Ensuring cover for all core and ad-hoc requirements, including holidays and unplanned absences, in line with contractual agreements and escalating any deficiencies immediately.
  • Monitoring overtime, sickness, and holiday accrual, as well as providing reports and statistics as required.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for all pay and benefit problems for staff based within the contract, and ensuring the swift resolution of any queries in conjunction with the Deputy Branch Manager.
  • Monitoring all contract expenditure in conjunction with the Deputy Branch Manager, including costs associated with service, uniform, training, etc., to ensure alignment with budget.
  • Assisting with the preparation, presentation, and negotiation of materials for contract and budget renewal as required.
  • Supervising the 24-hour manned guarding services and foot patrols with a high level of efficiency, carrying out random checks of staff performance in accordance with assignment instructions and emergency procedures.
  • Maintaining and enforcing physical security procedures and policies in accordance with Assignment Instructions for the sites, including the supervision of alarms, CCTV, access control, and other protective systems.
  • Coordinating responses to emergencies and out-of-hours issues as part of an account-based Duty Manager system.
  • Fostering and maintaining positive and professional partnerships with clients and their tenants, including attending regular Customer Liaison meetings with the Branch Manager/Deputy Branch Manager.
  • Supervising and coordinating special events and routine assignments.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Right to Work in the UK with a 5-year checkable history.
  • Current, valid SIA licence.
  • 5 years of experience in a supervisory or management position.
  • Strong communication skills with excellent written and spoken English.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills, able to negotiate and deal with sensitive and confidential matters using tact and discretion.
  • Competent in MS Word, Excel, and Email (Outlook).
  • Adaptable and responsive in the face of changes in priorities, plans, and schedules.
  • Ability to travel to the centre of Edinburgh for a 7am start, including on Public Holidays.
