Position Summary:

As a Financial Investigation Officer, your key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Providing guidance and mentorship to newly appointed trainee Financial Investigators, as well as assisting seasoned professionals through their accreditation journey.
  • Enhancing investigative skills and capabilities to empower Financial Investigators in effectively applying legislation to combat organized immigration crime, while identifying and recovering illicit financial assets.
  • Facilitating the establishment of investigative resources, ensuring that every Criminal Investigation team has access to a proficient financial investigation expert.
  • Strengthening investigative capabilities to leverage financial data and intelligence, thereby supporting the evidence required for prosecuting Organized Crime Groups.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in conducting financial investigations in accordance with the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, including money laundering, asset restraint, confiscation, and cash order investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft comprehensive summaries and statements for both criminal and civil cases, along with experience in court appearances to provide testimony.
  • Expertise in analyzing intricate financial data, presenting findings in a format suitable for court proceedings, and managing the completion and service of Financial Orders.
  • Thorough understanding of the application of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 within criminal investigations.
