Property Surveyor

With operational bases in Exeter and Ivybridge, South West Norse is committed to providing expert services across various property management fields, including building surveying, architectural design, mechanical and electrical engineering, project oversight, and estate management.

To enhance our project portfolio, we are seeking to appoint an additional Property Surveyor.

The Role:

Given the multifaceted nature of our operations, you will have the chance to engage in a variety of projects, performing numerous responsibilities such as:

Managing intricate refurbishment and maintenance projects valued up to £1 million, collaborating with major public sector clients who provide a steady stream of repeat business. Creating your own design and technical drawings, preparing tender documentation, executing contract administration tasks, and conducting site monitoring duties for relevant contracts to ensure compliance and uphold quality standards. Leading quality assurance initiatives across projects and services, ensuring that client requirements are fulfilled and that all relevant legislation is followed. Conducting site surveys related to condition/building surveying, schedules of condition, dilapidations, measured surveys, and planned maintenance; performing defect analysis that includes analytical investigation, research, and the preparation of technical reports. Compiling and presenting findings to both internal and external stakeholders, providing solutions and recommendations as necessary.

Our Ideal Candidate:

While we prefer a more seasoned Property Surveyor with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience, we are also committed to offering career advancement opportunities for the right individual. Therefore, we welcome applications from junior or graduate surveyors as well. You will demonstrate your qualifications through:

Ideally holding (or working towards) a Professional Chartered Membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); however, we are eager to support candidates through this process, making it not a strict requirement. Experience in the design, contract administration, and project management of construction projects of varying sizes and complexities. Familiarity with Building Regulations, Health & Safety, and other pertinent construction and building surveying legislation. Strong stakeholder management abilities, with the capacity to engage and negotiate with all levels of internal and external parties. Capability to work independently with minimal oversight or as part of a large, multidisciplinary team. A solid design background and proficiency in AutoCAD.
