As a Site Safety Controller/Supervisor , you will engage in significant work that impacts our organization and the communities we serve. This role is integral to our operations and involves overseeing various civil engineering tasks within the rail sector.

In the capacity of COSS/Supervisor , your primary responsibility will be to lead and manage work teams across multiple civil engineering disciplines. You will be tasked with traveling to different sites daily to supervise maintenance projects along the rail network. Collaboration with sub-agents and fellow supervisors will be essential to ensure that all operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

As a COSS/Supervisor , your duties will include:

  • Ensuring that all work is executed safely and meets the required quality standards, in alignment with client expectations across various projects including drainage, earthworks, and structural schemes.
  • Leading a diverse team of direct and agency labor, as well as specialized subcontractors.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and records on-site, ensuring effective communication with the General Foreman/Agent.
  • Delivering comprehensive briefings on the TBS/WPP/COSS protocols at the beginning of each shift, ensuring clarity and understanding among all team members.
  • Monitoring performance against production targets and providing reports as necessary.
  • Understanding and adhering to contract conditions with clients and suppliers.
  • Identifying and processing variations to contracts as they arise.
  • Taking responsibility for site-level safety performance, including the integration of HSQE considerations into work activities and ensuring adequate resources are available.
  • Leading by example to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification.
  • Proven experience in civil engineering and rail operations.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and adaptable work ethic.
  • COSS/ES competencies.
  • First aid certification.
  • A valid UK driving license.
  • Knowledge of SSOW planning and implementation (preferred).
  • SSSTS certification (preferred).
