Position Overview
The role of Site Safety Controller/Supervisor is critical in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations. As part of the Balfour Beatty team, you will be engaged in delivering essential projects that have a significant impact on our infrastructure and communities. This position is based within our operational framework.
As a Site Safety Controller/Supervisor, your primary responsibilities will include leading and managing work teams across various civil engineering disciplines. You will oversee daily operations at multiple sites, focusing on maintenance projects along the rail network. Collaboration with sub-agents and fellow supervisors will be essential to guarantee that all tasks are performed safely, on time, and meet the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
In the role of Site Safety Controller/Supervisor, you will be accountable for the following:
- Ensuring all operations are executed safely and to the highest quality standards, in alignment with client expectations across a range of projects including drainage, earthworks, and structural schemes.
- Leading a diverse team of direct and agency personnel, as well as specialized subcontractors.
- Maintaining thorough documentation and records on-site, ensuring effective communication with the General Foreman/Agent.
- Delivering comprehensive briefings regarding the Task Briefing Sheet (TBS), Work Package Plan (WPP), and COSS Briefing at the start of each shift, ensuring clarity and understanding among all team members.
- Monitoring performance against production targets and providing regular reports.
- Understanding and managing contract conditions with clients and suppliers.
- Identifying and processing variations to contracts as necessary.
- Overseeing safety performance at the site level, including the integration of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) considerations into work activities and ensuring adequate resources are available.
- Leading by example to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification.
- Proven experience in civil engineering and rail operations.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and adaptable work ethic.
- COSS/ES competencies.
- First aid certification.
- Valid UK driving license.
- Familiarity with Safe System of Work (SSOW) planning and implementation (preferred).
- SSSTS certification (preferred).
