Role Summary


The primary responsibility is to deliver Mechanical Engineering expertise focused on developing processes, plans, and procedures within 3D Experience for the assembly of Satellites and their payloads.

This role includes assisting in the hardware assembly of various Satellite components, such as electronic units, solar arrays, and structural panels, as well as supporting environmental testing at designated facilities.

Candidates with previous experience in

Assembly Integration & Testing

will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

**Project Preparation Phase**

- Assist in the customization phase commencing at project initiation.
- Participate in DMU (Digital Mock-Up/Design for Manufacture) sessions to ensure optimal design for production.
- Contribute to the creation of essential documentation for production phases, including ACS inputs, work instructions, and procedural guidelines.
- Lead the installation of Satellite appendages and oversee relevant integration workflows.
- Aid in defining MGSE (Mechanical Ground Support Equipment) for Satellite use and assist in procurement activities.
- Collaborate with the Process Owner team across all aspects of their responsibilities.

**Project Operational Phase**

- Provide support to the Assembly Integration & Test (AIT) Lead Engineering team during peak workload periods.
- Manage the handling and installation of thermal components (heaters, thermistors).
- Facilitate the mechanical integration of electronic units, subsystems, instruments, mechanisms, antennas, solar arrays, and other mechanical subsystems, ensuring proper documentation and processes are followed.
- Prepare and execute environmental tests (Vibration, Acoustic, Mass Properties, Thermal) at the unit, subsystem, instrument, and spacecraft levels.
- Assist process owners with issue resolution and operational tasks.
- Supervise unit installation activities on the Satellite.
- Support quality assessments, conduct PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and perform Root Cause Analysis.
- Aid in the development of rework instructions based on project specifications and identify necessary parts and tools for execution.

**Non-Project Responsibilities**

- Design tooling and build aids to facilitate assembly processes.
- Provide support to Research & Development initiatives.
- Develop and maintain training modules.
- Ensure that operational modes and processes are standardized, optimized, and up-to-date.
- Create new processes, engage in process improvement, and monitor implementation within operations.

Required Skills:
- Minimum HNC qualification in a Mechanical discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
- Previous AIT experience is highly advantageous.
- Mechanical experience in spacecraft or aircraft environments.
- Familiarity with avionics integration on spacecraft.
- Experience in handling and lifting large spacecraft.
- System Test experience is beneficial.
- Hands-on experience at the system level is essential.
