Role Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineering professional to provide essential support in the development and assembly of satellite systems and payloads. This role involves creating detailed processes, plans, and procedures utilizing 3D Experience software, and assisting in the assembly of critical satellite components such as black boxes, solar arrays, and structural panels. Additionally, the role includes participation in environmental testing at designated facilities. Candidates with a background in Assembly Integration & Test (AIT) will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Preparation Phase:
- Assist in the customization phase from project initiation.
- Contribute to DMU (Digital Mock-Up) sessions to ensure effective design for manufacture.
- Develop necessary documentation for production phases, including work instructions and procedures.
- Lead the installation of satellite appendages and manage integration workflows.
- Define and support the procurement of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) for satellite use.
- Project Operational Phase:
- Support the AIT Lead Engineering team during peak workload periods.
- Manage the handling and installation of thermal hardware components.
- Oversee the mechanical integration of electronic units, subsystems, and instruments.
- Prepare and execute environmental tests (Vibration, Acoustic, Mass Properties, Thermal) at various levels.
- Assist process owners with issue resolution and operational tasks.
- Supervise unit installation activities on the satellite.
- Facilitate quality reviews and conduct PFMEA and Root Cause Analysis.
- Develop re-work instructions based on project needs and identify necessary parts and tools.
- Non-Project Activities:
- Design tooling and build aids to enhance assembly execution.
- Support research and development initiatives.
- Create and maintain training modules.
- Ensure standardization, optimization, and currency of working modes and processes.
- Drive process improvement initiatives and monitor implementation in operations.
Required Skills:
- Minimum HNC level qualification in a Mechanical discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Significant AIT experience is highly advantageous
- Previous mechanical experience in spacecraft or aircraft sectors
- Familiarity with integrating avionics on spacecraft
- Experience in handling and lifting large spacecraft
- System Test experience
- Hands-on experience at the system level
