Job Overview

The role involves delivering comprehensive administrative support to a designated group of healthcare professionals, including nurses and medical staff, while facilitating the organization of team responsibilities and service execution.

Our healthcare services aim to address the physical health requirements of the community. However, many elderly patients admitted to our facilities may also experience cognitive challenges and/or mental health issues alongside their physical ailments. These cognitive and mental health conditions can impact care in various ways, such as:

Prolonged hospital stays Heightened risk of accidents, infections, and confusion Frequent readmissions

Furthermore, the under-recognition of common mental health and cognitive issues in older adults, along with inadequate treatment for conditions like confusion, can lead to:

Dissatisfaction with care Complaints from patients and caregivers The mission of the Older Persons Psychiatric Liaison service, integrated within our healthcare system, is to: Enhance patient safety Elevate the quality of care Streamline patient flow and optimize resource utilization Ensure staff safety

Key Responsibilities

The ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize your workload is essential, especially in a high-pressure environment. Responsibilities include providing coverage for colleagues during their absence, taking messages, and ensuring continuity of service. You will also be expected to act as a deputy for the Service Personal Assistant during their leave, adhere to organizational policies, and serve as a valuable information resource for team members.

Qualifications

Essential

Strong educational background, including GCSEs in Maths and English RSA III in Word Processing RSA II in Audio Typing NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent experience

Desirable

AMSPAR Medical Secretary Diploma or equivalent

Experience

Essential

Proficient in computer applications, including spreadsheets and databases Previous experience as a secretary within the healthcare sector

Desirable

Experience in a clinical environment, particularly in mental health settings
