Administrative Coordinator for Healthcare Team

Penzance, Cornwall, United Kingdom Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

The role involves delivering comprehensive administrative support to a designated group of healthcare professionals, including nurses and medical staff, while facilitating the effective management of team responsibilities and service provision.

Our healthcare services are designed to address the physical health requirements of the community. Nonetheless, a considerable number of elderly patients admitted to our facilities may also experience cognitive challenges and/or mental health issues alongside their physical ailments. These cognitive and mental health concerns can impact care in various ways, such as:

  • Prolonged hospital stays
  • Heightened risk of accidents, infections, and confusion
  • Frequent readmissions

Furthermore, inadequate recognition of the underlying causes of prevalent mental health and cognitive issues in older adults, along with insufficient treatment and care for conditions like confusion, can lead to:

  • Dissatisfaction with the care provided
  • Complaints from patients and caregivers

The objective of the Older Persons Psychiatric Liaison service, integrated within our general healthcare framework, is to:

  • Enhance patient safety
  • Elevate the quality of care
  • Streamline patient flow and optimize resource utilization
  • Ensure staff safety

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize their workload, even in high-pressure situations. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing coverage and support (including taking messages for colleagues at other locations) in the absence of fellow administrative staff to maintain service continuity.
  • Acting as a deputy for the Service Personal Assistant during periods of absence.
  • Adhering to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Serving as a valuable information resource for team members.
