About the Role

Barnardo's is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Missing and Exploitation Project Worker. This role is a critical part of our organization's efforts to support vulnerable young people in Bristol.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with young people who have been missing, providing a safe and non-judgmental space for them to share their experiences and concerns.
  • Conduct return home interviews with young people, assessing their risks and creating personalized safety plans to promote their well-being and reduce further missing episodes.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, including Avon and Somerset Police and Children and Young People's Services, to ensure a comprehensive approach to safeguarding young people.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions with young people, ensuring that their needs and concerns are documented and addressed.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in areas such as trauma-informed practice, child protection, and exploitation.
  • Contribute to the development of new initiatives and programs aimed at preventing young people from going missing and addressing the root causes of exploitation.
Requirements
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people, particularly those who have been missing or experiencing exploitation.
  • Strong understanding of child protection frameworks and safeguarding principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with young people and establish effective relationships with colleagues and external agencies.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the service and young people.
  • Valid driving license and access to a car, with a willingness to travel across Bristol to meet with young people in their communities.
