Job Description:

Are you a seasoned Manufacturing Engineer looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Leonardo in Basildon. As a key member of our Integrated Sensing and Protection line of business, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust manufacturing processes to ensure the smooth transition of our new products from design to production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes to meet product requirements, ensuring quality and efficiency.
  • Plan and deliver work packages, including medium-term planning and complex technical advice to internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve manufacturing processes and equipment, enabling world-class production of Leonardo products.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information, including resolution proposals, production schedules, labour and material costs, and future requirements.
  • Contribute to failure investigations and implement problem-solving techniques to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing methods, validating/verifying process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members to develop their skills and competencies.
  • Provide domain expertise in support of customer and user engagement and product roadmaps.
Requirements:
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • People management and leadership skills, including effective performance and change management.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with others using data and analysis.
  • Detailed understanding of operational frameworks and business processes.
  • Experience of peer reviewing work and ensuring actions are implemented.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk/reward processes associated with engineering activity.
