About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Leonardo in Basildon. As a key member of our Integrated Sensing and Protection line of business, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust manufacturing processes to ensure the smooth transition of new products from design to production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Plan and deliver work packages, including medium-term planning horizons and providing complex technical advice to internal and external customers.
  • Develop, improve, and support operations manufacturing processes and equipment to enable world-class production of Leonardo products.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information with resolution proposals, including reviewing production schedules, labor and material costs, and estimating future requirements.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing methods, validating/verifying process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Contribute to failure investigations and develop problem-solving techniques.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • People management and leadership skills, including effective performance and change management skills.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with others using data and analysis to support line of reasoning.
  • Detailed understanding of the operational framework and business processes.
  • Ability to take ownership of a work package, planning and scheduling own workload and the work of others.
