Job Summary

Portering Team Leader

Medway NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Portering Team Leader to join our Estates & Facilities team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Portering Department, ensuring that all tasks and duties are completed in a professional and timely manner.

Main Responsibilities

As a Portering Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the Portering Department, including supervising and administering post holders, and ensuring that all tasks and duties are completed in a professional and timely manner.
  • Coordinating and producing staff duties and rosters, ensuring that adequate staffing levels are maintained.
  • Liaising with patients, trust departments, and external companies and agencies in a professional manner, and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Delegating tasks as necessary, utilizing good leadership and problem-solving skills, and actively pursuing and reinforcing the Trust's policies in relation to Equal Opportunities and diversity legislation.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of working within a NHS or healthcare environment, with a management or supervisory qualification.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current and developing law and legislation in relation to NHS services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate and communicate with patients and staff at all levels.
  • A high level of IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
