We are seeking a Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine who is aligned with our mission to provide exceptional care through dedicated professionals and is eager to contribute to our ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities

Join our innovative and dedicated team at Medway, where we are focused on enhancing our services and creating new care pathways in collaboration with local health organizations. Recent advancements in our Elderly Care Department include the establishment of a Consultant-led Acute Frailty Pathway and a newly developed Acute Frailty Unit, supported by a multidisciplinary team. We are also launching a Rapid Access Clinic for elderly patients and planning to initiate an Acute Unit in a nearby community hospital.

Job Responsibilities

The Elderly Care team comprises multiple Consultant Geriatrician positions, providing comprehensive hospital and community services, including Acute Frailty services and specialized clinics for conditions such as Parkinson's disease and falls. We have recently introduced a Rapid Access Clinic for elderly patients as part of our emergency care services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing patients admitted to the Elderly Care ward and those under their care during on-call duties. The role involves collaboration with a dedicated Elderly Care Team, including junior doctors and a multidisciplinary team.

Participation in an Acute Frailty on-call service is expected, with a structured schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Full registration with the GMC and the ability to make senior-level decisions are required, along with opportunities for personal development, teaching, and research within the department.

We welcome subspecialty interests and provide support for candidates pursuing specialist registration. Our department encourages leadership roles and active participation in teaching, quality improvement, and research initiatives.
