About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Facilities Development Engineer to join our team at Onward Technologies Limited. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the development and management of projects related to facilities and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Development and Management: Assess the feasibility of new facilities and processes, develop and manage projects to ensure cost, quality, and timing targets are met.
  2. Facilities Support: Provide the required capability and capacity at facilities and supporting equipment, aligned to program milestones, launch plans, and production requirements.
  3. Feasibility and Cost Evaluations: Complete feasibility and cost evaluations for proposed new or modified facilities and processes, define robust delivery plans with minimized disruption to operations.
  4. Engineering Solutions: Develop engineering solutions that are suited to the capabilities of appropriate facilities and their associated process characteristics.
  5. Facility Layout Solutions: Develop robust/lean layout solutions to support facility project delivery or process/operational efficiency improvements.
  6. Contractor Management: Manage contractors in strict accordance with the Control of Contractors procedures.
  7. Health, Safety, and Operational Risk Management: Manage, maintain, and develop all Health, Safety, and Operational Risk Management processes and site-specific processes and systems at the area.
  8. Environmental Innovation and Reporting: Contribute to the ongoing Environmental Innovation and Reporting (Energy, Water, Waste) compliance with the standards.
  9. Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate the support and input of all relevant stakeholders to achieve acceptance, buy-off, and successful handover of new or modified facilities.
  10. Manufacturing Engineering Support: Work closely with Manufacturing and other Engineering disciplines to deliver programs and facility projects to cost targets and timing.
  11. Documentation Management: Provide a Manufacturing Engineering support role to Plant personnel as a member of cross-functional teams for problem-solving and continuous improvement activities with regard to Safety, Quality & Cost.
  12. Facility Documentation: Be responsible for the management of facility documentation on the projects you work on in line with Manufacturing Engineering procedures, supporting TS, ISO, SHARP, LQOS & FPS internal and external audits.
  13. Procurement Management: Lead and partake in multifunctional New Equipment Procurement Teams through all project phases ensuring company procurement procedures are met & adhered to.
  14. Project Tracking and Reporting: Track project-based KPIs and make ready for report-out to departmental manager on a weekly basis.
  15. Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any other work as directed by your line manager in connection with your job as may be requested.

  • Engineering and Manufacturing Background: A sound engineering and manufacturing background with previous experience in Facilities Development and Engineering.
  • Process Conveyor Technologies: Proven experience and understanding of process conveyor technologies.
  • Reliability and Maintainability Principles: Experience of reliability and maintainability principles and an understanding of the environmental impacts of engineering solutions.
  • Degree Qualification: Degree qualified or equivalent Engineering experience preferred.
  • Supplier and Project Budget Management: Ability to control and manage suppliers (both Material & Equipment) and project budgets.
  • Lean Manufacturing Tools and Techniques: Have a working knowledge of the application of lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Autonomy and Flexibility: Have the ability to work unsupervised (at times) to a set of objectives & targets.
  • Flexibility with Working Hours: Must be flexible with regard to working hours as the role requires after-hours, weekend, and Shutdown working delivering objectives & targets.
  • Facilities Development Experience: Experience of delivering both operational and strategic transactional and Facilities Management solutions across an array of engineering sites, buildings, and customer types.
  • Contract and Performance Management: Experience within the Facilities development across a variety of industries and geographies.
  • CDM Regulations: Good working knowledge of CDM regulations.
  • Supplier Selection and Tender Management: Have previous experience of Supplier selection and tender management.
  • Electrical Control Systems: Have a working knowledge of electrical control systems employed with automated equipment & conveyor equipment.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, Temporary contract, Fixed-term contract

Pay: £38,828.23-£50,412.39 per year
