Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated individual with a background in pharmacy or healthcare administration, particularly in managing prescriptions, to join our team at Westbourne Medical Centre. This role is ideal for someone eager to enhance their expertise in a supportive environment.

This is a part-time role with flexible working hours, accommodating various schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently handle all requests for repeat medications from patients, pharmacies, and care facilities.
  • Communicate with patients and pharmacies to address prescription-related inquiries.
  • Collaborate with the practice's medication management teams, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to resolve medication-related issues.
  • Coordinate with hospital personnel regarding discharge summaries and clinic communications.
  • Review patient records for chronic conditions and medication monitoring, arranging necessary tests and follow-ups.
  • Accurately input relevant patient data into the SystmOne system.
  • Utilize the Prescription Tracker to monitor the status of electronic prescriptions.
  • Perform additional tasks as required to support the role.

We are looking for a motivated medication processing specialist to become part of our dynamic multidisciplinary team, which includes advanced healthcare professionals such as Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, and Practice Nurses.

Role Expectations

In this position, you will serve as the primary contact for patients requesting repeat prescriptions. Your responsibilities will include accurately processing these requests in a timely manner. You will work closely with our healthcare providers, pharmacy technicians, and local pharmacies, while also engaging directly with patients and their families.

Strong communication skills are essential, as you will interact with patients in a compassionate manner. The ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively is crucial.

You will manage incoming and outgoing calls with patients, pharmacies, and healthcare professionals, identifying when medication reviews and other patient care needs arise, and assisting in organizing this work. Keeping patient records current will also be part of your duties.

This role is vital in supporting both clinical and administrative teams in ensuring safe and timely medication issuance.

A positive attitude and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success in this position.
