Role Overview:

The Lead Assembly Specialist plays a crucial role in guiding a team of assembly professionals to ensure the timely delivery of gearboxes and axles according to established production schedules, while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Technical Proficiency:

Possessing extensive technical knowledge is essential for the Lead Assembly Specialist.

Operational Autonomy:

Collaborates with the team leader to prioritize tasks and maximize productivity under tight deadlines and time constraints.
Contributes to a high-performing team to achieve monthly production goals with exceptional quality.
Recognized as the authority on specific assembly lines or product categories.
Capable of mentoring colleagues to meet established standards.
While the role is overseen, there is flexibility to modify standard procedures when necessary.
Empowered to make operational choices in the absence of the departmental team leader.

A dedicated problem solver with clear and logical reasoning abilities.
Engages in investigations and offers suggestions for ongoing enhancements.

Leadership Qualities:

The Lead Assembly Specialist must be personable, approachable, and collaborative, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Must act with urgency when necessary and possess strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to inspire others to meet production targets.
Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies such as 8D for quality issue investigations and the ability to work cross-functionally to resolve quality challenges.
Must communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with individuals ranging from technicians to senior management.
Equally adept at collaborating effectively with peers across functions.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Positioned within the RPP office, this role operates on a permanent day shift basis.
May require participation in customer meetings.
Minimum qualifications include GCSEs in Mathematics and English (Grade C or above). A traditional apprenticeship or relevant experience is preferred, with additional vocational qualifications being advantageous.
Experience in assembly and/or end-of-line testing of complex mechanical and hydraulic systems is essential.
Demonstrated technical expertise and proficiency in using measurement tools such as verniers and micrometers.
Intermediate computer skills, particularly in MS Office, are required.
Strong organizational abilities, self-motivation, and a proactive approach are essential.
Understanding of automotive quality control processes is necessary.
