Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and controlling the company's plant activities, ensuring that our fleet of rigs and specialist construction machinery and equipment are fit for purpose, serviced and maintained regularly to avoid breakdowns on site and reach their destination safely, on time and in the most cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, Organize and Manage Plant Operations: Develop and implement plans to ensure the efficient operation of our plant fleet, including scheduling maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Lead Plant Fitters and Mechanics: Supervise and mentor a team of plant fitters and mechanics to ensure they are equipped to repair, service, and maintain our fleet of specialist construction plant and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Operations Team: Work closely with the operations team to ensure that contractual commitments are met in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Manage Suppliers: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure that we are getting the best value for money and quality.
  • Financial Management: Analyze expenditures and financial information to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations to increase operational efficiency.
  • Training and Development: Manage and coordinate training requirements to ensure operational compliance.
  • Team Leadership: Support the Operations Manager in determining priorities and allocating work to maximize output and efficiency.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all team members adhere to existing working practices, methods, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Construction Industry Experience: A good understanding of construction-related plant operations and the ability to support the company's requirements in these areas.
  • QA Systems Knowledge: Sufficient knowledge of QA systems to implement relevant plant processes and procedures.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage team workloads, plan workloads, and schedules for all plant to cover multiple sites UK-wide.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills to work with people of all levels.
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literacy relative to the requirements of the role.
  • Leadership Skills: Good leadership and motivational skills to lead a team of plant fitters and mechanics.
