About the Institution

They are currently in search of a Level 1-2 SEN Teaching Assistant to enhance their committed team.

Your Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in fostering both the academic and personal growth of students. Your role will involve supporting their educational journey and overall well-being, ensuring they can achieve their utmost potential in a caring and secure setting. Duties may include addressing individual care needs and implementing effective behaviour management strategies tailored to each student's specific requirements.

Building warm and supportive relationships with students is crucial, as is creating a safe and engaging learning environment. Encouraging independence and personal development while upholding high standards of behaviour is essential. You will collaborate with the class teacher to deliver high-quality, challenging, and tailored educational experiences that empower every student to thrive.

Key Duties:

  • Assist in the planning and evaluation of educational activities.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student progress and achievements.
  • Help monitor, assess, record, and report on students' progress in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Support positive behaviour and focus, adapting your approach as necessary.
  • Promote spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, while upholding British values within the PSHE framework.
  • Encourage cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development, and spiritual well-being through a holistic curriculum.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to assist in the dynamic SEN environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in an SEN role, whether paid or voluntary.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (essential for student transport on a rota basis).
  • Recognised Level 2 or higher qualification in Support Work for Teaching and Learning in Schools (desirable).
  • GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C or above (essential).
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Experience working with students with SEN or SEMH/ASD.
  • A child-centered approach, acknowledging and responding to each student's individuality.
  • Creativity and positivity in addressing students' needs.
