Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs? An award-winning SEN school group is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their permanent staff in Quidenham, starting from September 2024.

Role Overview: The SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide individual and group support to students with special educational needs. This role involves helping to create a positive learning environment, assisting with educational activities, and ensuring the well-being and safety of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in their learning activities, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of learning materials and resources.
  • Foster a nurturing and supportive environment for students.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers.
  • Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Help with personal care needs of students, where necessary.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom and school environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to meet the needs of each student.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
  • A genuine passion for working with SEN students and a commitment to their well-being and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of students and the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
