About the Institution

This well-regarded institution is situated in a picturesque area, dedicated to providing exceptional educational experiences for students aged 10-19 with complex needs, including conditions such as Asperger's Syndrome and Autism. They are currently looking for a Level 1-2 SEN Teaching Assistant to contribute to their committed team.

Your Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be integral to the academic and personal growth of the students. Your role will involve supporting their educational journey and well-being, ensuring they achieve their maximum potential in a nurturing and secure setting. Duties may include addressing care needs and implementing effective behaviour management strategies tailored to each student's individual requirements.

Building warm, supportive relationships with students is crucial, as is fostering a safe and engaging learning environment. Encouraging independence and personal development while maintaining high standards of behaviour is essential. You will assist the class teacher in delivering high-quality, challenging, and differentiated educational experiences, enabling every student to thrive.

Key Duties:

  • Assist in the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student progress and achievements.
  • Monitor, assess, record, and report on pupils' progress in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Support positive behaviour and focus, adapting your approach as necessary.
  • Promote spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, upholding British values within the PSHE framework.
  • Encourage students' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development, and spiritual well-being through a holistic curriculum.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to assist where needed in the dynamic SEN environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in an SEN role, whether employed or voluntary.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (essential for student transport on a rota basis).
  • Recognised Level 2 or higher qualification in Support Work for Teaching and Learning in Schools (desirable).
  • GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C or above (essential).
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Experience with pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD.
  • A child-first approach, recognising and responding to each student's individuality.
  • Creativity and positivity in addressing pupils' needs.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive training and ongoing support.
  • Life assurance and pension plan.
  • Health cash back scheme.
  • Car lease program.
  • Bike to work initiative.
  • Employee perks platform.
  • Complimentary parking.

Successful candidates will undergo pre-employment safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check. This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, meaning all convictions and cautions must be disclosed to ensure suitability for working with children.

If you are dedicated to enhancing the education and well-being of children with complex needs, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
