Senior Electrical Operations Engineer

Role Overview

Location: Flexible across the UK, with a preference for key sites in the North East.

Compensation: Competitive salary range with additional benefits including a company vehicle and performance-related incentives.

We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Operations Engineer to join our Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery Electrical Engineering division. This role is integral to our Maintenance Engineering team, focusing on the integrity and performance of our renewable energy assets across various operational locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Responsibilities: Execute Senior Authorised Person (SAP) duties for high voltage systems, including maintenance and troubleshooting of critical electrical assets.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide both scheduled and emergency technical support, conducting safety and technical investigations as necessary. Address significant electrical issues that may impact operational efficiency.
  • Asset Integrity Oversight: Monitor the health of electrical systems and respond proactively to emerging issues that could pose safety or operational risks. Enhance maintenance protocols to ensure optimal performance.
  • Contractor Oversight: Manage aspects of contractor engagement, from drafting specifications to evaluating proposals and ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.
  • Project Leadership: Deliver project management services for specific initiatives aimed at improving safety, reliability, and design within the business.

Qualifications and Skills:

The role may require work in remote locations and at heights, with training provided for necessary safety protocols. Strong presentation skills are essential for representing the team in formal settings.

Candidates should possess a minimum of an HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in operational, maintenance, or construction roles, ideally within a high voltage context.

A valid driving license is required due to the nature of site locations, along with the ability to travel for collaboration with teams across various offices.

Applicants should have experience as an operational SAP or demonstrate the capability to achieve the necessary competencies, with a solid understanding of electrical systems and equipment.

Experience in managing projects and contractors is essential, along with a proven track record of successful delivery.

Familiarity with Wind, Solar, or Battery technologies is advantageous but not mandatory.
