Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for producing comprehensive design calculations and sketches tailored to project specifications. A solid understanding of technical engineering design relevant to this position is essential, as you will collaborate with both Senior Engineers and Engineering Technicians within a team dedicated to delivering excellence.
Typical duties include:
- Conducting detailed Electrical Building Services Design Engineering for new construction and renovation projects.
- Assisting senior personnel in feasibility assessments, conceptual designs, and scheme development.
- Participating in design team meetings alongside colleagues.
- Evaluating and reporting on electrical building services systems.
- Utilizing Building Services software for engineering calculations.
- Executing electrical design tasks, including surveys, design, drawings, and specifications for various projects.
- Collaborating with other design team members as part of a comprehensive project team.
- Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems comply with legislative and health and safety standards.
- Producing marked-up drawings for CAD by others or directly creating CAD design drawings for distribution.
- Selecting and specifying products, equipment, and installation standards related to electrical services suitable for contractor costing and installation.
Qualifications
To excel in this position, you will likely possess a degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, along with experience that aligns with the knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer status, in accordance with IET or CIBSE standards.
Key Skills
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Ability to design principal electrical systems from conceptual to detailed design stages.
- Proficiency in low voltage electrical distribution, internal and external lighting, power supplies, fire alarm systems, and ICT structured cabling.
- Competence in cable containment related to the aforementioned systems.
- Capability to interpret and review drawings in AutoCAD.
- Understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance associated with the systems mentioned.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
