Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated OBD Calibration Engineer to join our automotive engineering team at the Institute of the Motor Industry. Limited. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our vehicles meet regulatory requirements and deliver exceptional performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and Calibrate OBD Strategies: Design and implement OBD strategies for engine management systems to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  2. Analyze and Interpret Data: Utilize diagnostic tools to analyze and interpret data from vehicle testing, identifying issues and potential solutions to improve OBD system performance.
  3. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with software engineers, test engineers, and vehicle integration teams to implement changes and improvements to the OBD system.
  4. Conduct Emissions Testing: Perform emissions testing and validation of OBD systems to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  5. Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Regulations: Maintain knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to OBD calibration to ensure our vehicles meet regulatory requirements.
  6. Provide Technical Support: Offer technical support to manufacturing, service, and field engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of OBD systems.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's Degree: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field is required.
  2. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive calibration or a related field is necessary.
  3. Knowledge of Engine Management Systems: Strong knowledge of engine management systems and on-board diagnostics (OBD) is essential.
  4. Calibration Tools: Experience with calibration tools such as ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, or similar software is required.
  5. Diagnostics Tools: Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools such as CANape or CANalyzer is necessary.
  6. Automotive Communication Protocols: Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN) is required.
  7. Emissions Regulations: Knowledge of emissions regulations (EPA, CARB) and certification processes is preferred.
  8. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
  9. Communication and Teamwork Abilities: Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are necessary to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
