Main Function / Purpose of Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paint and Coating Process Engineer to join our team at International Automotive Components. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of our paint and glue process and application equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the paint and glue process and application equipment are maintained and operated in accordance with established control plans to meet customer quality standards and delivery schedules.
  • Identify and document any difficulties relating to the product, process, and/or quality system, and communicate these to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the health, safety, and environmental aspects of your area, including reporting safety hazards, accidents, and near misses, and implementing preventative actions as required.
  • Implement cost-reduction improvements for both new and existing equipment and processes.
  • Provide technical support to production and engineering operations for improvement programs.
  • Develop and implement solutions to prevent nonconformities relating to the product, process, and/or quality system.
  • Develop, implement, verify, and document parameter settings for paint and glue process and application equipment to maintain specified quality standards.
  • Track, record, and prepare management reports detailing process capability and trend analyses of key parameters.
  • Develop robotic path motions and operating parameters for the introduction of new products and the continuous improvement of existing programs.
  • Coordinate with paint and glue line personnel to complete process-related projects and improvements.
  • Communicate and cooperate with paint and glue suppliers on usage optimization, formulation compatibility, paint and glue performance, and quality issues.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement teams as assigned by the Engineer Manager.
  • Create and manage budgets year on year.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of FMEA's, control plans, and TS-16949 documentation.

Preferred Education and Experiences:

  • Previous automotive paint and glue systems, finishing, and robotic experience required.
  • Experience with industrial control, computer technology, and programming an asset.
  • ABB Robot experience a plus.
  • Siemens PLC control system experience.
  • Experience of Mader Paint and Glue Systems a plus.
  • General knowledge of production control/scheduling systems.
  • Good analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • General MS-Office skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Basic knowledge of machining/tooling; and electrical/schematics.
