BAM Nuttall is seeking a skilled and driven Commercial Manager to enhance our dynamic team, focusing on the execution of substantial civil engineering initiatives throughout Scotland. These projects primarily involve the energy infrastructure sector, including the construction of new substations and HVDC converter stations to facilitate Scotland's journey towards net zero emissions.

Your Responsibilities

As a Commercial Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating effective communication with the Framework Director, Regional Commercial Manager, project management, and other relevant disciplines while enhancing the visibility of commercial services.
  • Overseeing personnel matters, which may encompass succession planning, recruitment, development, and retention issues, as well as staff allocation.
  • Engaging with supply chain partners through pre-contract discussions, contract evaluations, and contributions to subcontract documentation.
  • Ensuring that audits are conducted and feedback is relayed to the organization.
  • Providing commercial insights during interactions with clients and, when necessary, their representatives.
  • Offering commercial guidance to the site team regarding all project-related matters and contributing to area commercial discussions and reviews.
  • Participating in discussions related to project performance and supplying commercial input for project strategies.
  • Overseeing the preparation of monthly cost and value reports, quarterly forecasts, and company-related expenses. Collecting cash-flow data and presenting all reports.
  • Assisting in the identification and management of disputes.
  • Drafting and negotiating insurance claims with representatives from insurance companies.
  • Agreeing on terms and engaging legal and commercial consultants while monitoring their accounts.
  • Maintaining communication with supply chain partners through contract evaluations and contributions to contract documentation.
  • Conducting subcontract document evaluations and contributing to subcontract documentation.
Who We Are Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager managing multiple projects, with at least 4 years in this capacity.
  • Experience in Joint Ventures.
  • Membership in a Professional Institution or actively pursuing application to the ICES or a similar body.
  • A collaborative mindset, willing to assist and support colleagues.
  • Education at the degree level in a relevant field such as Commercial, Construction, or Project Management (preferred but not mandatory).
