BAM Nuttall is seeking a skilled and driven Senior Manager of Commercial Operations to enhance our dynamic team, overseeing significant civil engineering initiatives throughout Scotland. These projects primarily focus on the energy infrastructure sector, constructing new substations and HVDC converter stations to facilitate Scotland's journey towards net zero emissions.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager of Commercial Operations, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating effective communication with the Framework Director, commercial managers, project teams, and the Divisional Commercial Manager.
  • Preparing management reports for presentation to senior leadership.
  • Overseeing staff-related matters, including succession planning, recruitment, development, and retention strategies.
  • Engaging with key supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings and contract reviews.
  • Ensuring audits are conducted and providing constructive feedback to the business.
  • Offering commercial insights during client interactions and with client representatives as needed.
  • Conducting regular meetings with senior client representatives and cultivating relationships with essential stakeholders.
  • Providing commercial guidance to commercial managers regarding project-related issues and contributing to area commercial discussions.
  • Participating in discussions on project performance and offering commercial input for project strategies.
  • Assisting in the identification and management of disputes.
  • Producing and negotiating insurance claims with representatives from insurance companies.
  • Establishing terms and engaging legal and commercial consultants while monitoring their accounts.
  • Reviewing sub-contract documents and contributing to sub-contract documentation.
Who We Are Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Senior Manager of Commercial Operations or in a similar role, managing multiple projects with at least 4 years of experience.
  • Experience in Joint Ventures.
  • Membership in a Professional Institution or working towards ICES application or equivalent.
  • A collaborative mindset with a willingness to support colleagues.
  • Degree-level education in a relevant field such as Commercial, Construction, or Project Management (preferred but not mandatory).
