About the Role

BAM Nuttall is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join our team, responsible for delivering large civil engineering projects across Scotland. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team, working on projects within the energy infrastructure sector, focusing on building new substations and HVDC converter stations to support Scotland's transition to net Zero.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with the Framework Director, commercial managers, project teams, and Divisional Commercial Manager.
  • Prepare and present management reports to the senior leadership team, providing commercial insights and recommendations.
  • Oversee staff matters, including staff succession planning, recruitment, development, and retention.
  • Provide commercial guidance to key supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting, and input to subcontract documents.
  • Ensure audits are conducted and feedback is provided to the business, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with clients and their representatives, providing commercial input and advice as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Provide commercial input to project discussions, reviews, and strategy development.
  • Identify and manage disputes, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Negotiate insurance claims with insurer's representatives and engage legal and commercial consultants as required.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Senior Commercial Manager or similar role, with a minimum of 4 years in this position.
  • Experience working in joint ventures and a member of a Professional Institution or working towards application of the ICES.
  • Strong collaborative approach, willing to help and assist colleagues.
  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant Commercial, Construction, or Project Management qualification.
