About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medicines Procurement Officer to join our dynamic team in NHS England's Medicines Procurement and Supply Chain team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering and implementing procurement strategy for generic medicines in NHS secondary care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver the medicines framework agreement tendering programme, ensuring compliance with Public Contracts Regulations.
  • Project lead or support tender processes, collaborating with NHS Pharmacy, healthcare specialists, and pharmaceutical industry colleagues to resolve contracting issues.
  • Produce comprehensive adjudication reports and supporting documentation, including additional analysis when required.
  • Manage ongoing contract activities, such as uptake reviews, KPIs, and supplier performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships within the NHS and externally.
  • Ensure systems, including the Contract Management system, Project Management System, and NHS Pharmacy Web Catalogue, are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Support the coordination and management of supply problems.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Education to degree level in a relevant subject associated with professional purchasing principles or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of professional purchasing principles acquired via Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) / IACCM or equivalent experience in a procurement role.
  • Extensive procurement experience, including the use of computerised procurement/purchasing systems.
  • Experience of successfully delivering on multiple projects in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent writing, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Able to make a connection between their work and the benefit to patients and the public.
  • Consistently thinks about how their work can help and support clinicians and frontline staff deliver better outcomes for patients.
