This role is situated within our EnerSys Advanced Systems (EAS) Space division, which is integral to a team executing international space missions involving satellites, launch vehicles, and interplanetary craft. Our company collaborates with both national and international space organizations, including NASA and the European Space Agency, while also engaging with the commercial sector on missions that encompass Earth observation, IoT satellite constellations, and global navigation systems. Job Purpose

  • The Space Power Project Quality Manager is tasked with assessing, monitoring, and fulfilling all Quality Assurance (QA) requirements for designated space power initiatives. This role involves collaboration with a dedicated team from various disciplines (e.g., Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration, and Test) to generate documentation and hardware for client delivery.
  • This position serves as the primary Quality Assurance liaison to clients for the assigned projects.
  • The Space Quality Manager may oversee one or more Quality Assurance Engineers, depending on the project's size and complexity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and quality-driven Quality Assurance activities.
  • Oversee the prevention, investigation, and resolution of non-conformances for assigned projects.
  • Assist the Sales/Business Development team with Quality Assurance requirements for new opportunities.
  • Deliver documentation that meets client QA specifications (e.g., Non-Conformance Reports, Engineering Documentation, Inspection Reports).
  • Provide specialized Quality Assurance analysis and documentation (Project Management Plans, Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical components, Reliability, and Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis Reports).
  • Chair internal readiness review meetings (Management Review, Technical Review).
  • Oversee in-build and in-test inspection points and sign-off on related reports or checkpoints.
  • Ensure safety certification and compliance statements for the product.
  • Define the initial product baseline for review and input from the project team.
  • Classify, track, and log changes to the product baseline (via Change Control Boards).
  • Notify clients of baseline changes (for instance, by tracking the status of Requests for Deviation/Requests for Waiver).

Qualifications

  • A degree in a STEM field, equivalent qualification, or relevant industry experience.

Knowledge / Experience

  • Proven experience in delivering Quality Assurance engineering on spacecraft projects.
  • Experience in inspecting and accepting spacecraft hardware.
  • Ability to produce technical Quality Assurance documentation: Materials, Processes, Components, and Parts Lists; Hazard Analysis; Reliability and FMECA Reports.
  • Strong knowledge of European Space Industry standards (ECSS).
  • Capability to interpret European Space Industry standards (ECSS) and develop compliant solutions.

  • Capability to support team members engaged in various projects.
  • Adept at delegating and monitoring progress on tasks for junior Quality Assurance engineers.
  • A pragmatic, business-oriented, and process-driven mindset.
  • Proficient in MS Office / Office 365 suite of applications.
