About the Role
The Senior Cell Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the evaluation, testing, and preparation of Li-ion cells for space projects. This role requires a strong technical background and experience working with Li-ion batteries.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for the technical work within internal cell engineering projects, including identification and assessment of Li-ion cell technologies, definition and delivery of cell testing programs, and verification and sign-off of cell batches as flight suitable.
- Supporting cell ordering to meet future demand and ensuring preparation of cells for production, including electrical screening data analysis and reporting, inspection data analysis, and support of cell availability databases.
- Responsible for supplying data for product design, including definition of cell operating envelopes, enabling and enhancing in-house sizing, and safety data to enable the completion of hazard analyses.
- Disseminating Li-ion cell information to external customers/space agencies through meetings and/or conferences, providing training in Li-ion cell performance, and responsible for technical inputs to improvement projects within the team.
- Managing direct reports, including timesheets/absence monitoring/annual leave, setting of goals/objectives, and training and career development plans.
Requirements
- A degree in a STEM subject.
- Test and data analysis of Li-ion cells in at least one of the following areas: performance, life testing, or safety testing.
- Presenting technical information, reviewing and constructively criticising analytical results, technical reports, and documents.
- A high level of IT skills for data analysis, modelling, results presentation, and reporting.
