Resettlement Officer Opportunity

Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking a dedicated Resettlement Officer to join our Refugee & Asylum Seeker team. As a Borough of Sanctuary, we are committed to welcoming refugees from conflict zones and providing support to those within refugee resettlement schemes operational in the borough.

The successful candidate will provide individual support plans to each household or family, including advice, support, and signposting for resettled refugees and asylum seekers with complex needs. This will involve ensuring existing services and mainstream provision are accessed and promoting community links and integration.

Key responsibilities will include maintaining and updating the Homes for Ukraine scheme databases, ensuring the web-based case management system is kept up to date, and maintaining effective procedures and auditable record keeping. Experience supporting and assessing vulnerable people is preferred, and experience working with asylum seekers and refugees would be beneficial.

Essential skills and qualifications include:

  • Experience of working with vulnerable people, assessing need, and documenting support.
  • Understanding of immigration and Refugee Resettlement programmes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Good knowledge of Data Protection/Confidentiality, safeguarding policies, and procedures.
  • Flexible approach and ability to work across the borough of Cheshire West and Chester.
