Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Housing Options Specialist to join our team at Service Care Solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting assessments of individuals presenting as homeless or at risk of homelessness, identifying problems causing their homelessness, and offering support and advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide housing advice and support to individuals, ensuring they understand their rights and responsibilities
  • Process and investigate applications for housing accommodation, including cases of homelessness and threatened homelessness
  • Take reasonable steps to secure suitable emergency and temporary accommodation for homeless households, in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Maintain regular contact with homeless households in temporary accommodation, ensuring they receive appropriate support
  • Develop and lead specialist areas of housing advice, such as domestic abuse, young people, or welfare reform
  • Build and maintain relationships with colleagues, statutory services, local landlords, and other housing organizations
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions, assessments, and decisions, adhering to confidentiality and data protection guidelines

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a similar role, within housing options or social housing, with a focus on homelessness prevention
  • Knowledge of housing legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Homelessness Reduction Act
  • Knowledge of choice-based lettings schemes
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable customers, including interviewing and providing suitable housing advice
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload efficiently
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
