Job Overview

Turner & Townsend is seeking experienced Project Controls Managers to oversee High-Tech and Manufacturing initiatives. This role involves leading a diverse Project Controls team, collaborating closely with the client's Project Manager and supply chain to establish a realistic baseline and implement effective controls for monitoring progress, addressing issues, and minimizing delays to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish a comprehensive breakdown structure, integrating data from all control functions.
  • Facilitate and lead cost estimation sessions to achieve an agreed-upon, market-tested cost baseline, emphasizing value for money and budget accuracy.
  • Organize and direct planning sessions and workshops to develop the master project/programme schedule baseline, ensuring feasibility in timelines.
  • Comprehend procurement principles, consolidating lead times within the schedule to prioritize material and equipment orders to align with installation dates.
  • Oversee the risk management process, including qualitative and quantitative assessments to enhance cost and schedule predictability.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring all key stakeholders approve the baseline and receive regular progress updates.
  • Implement a robust update process, effectively managing schedule, interfaces, costs, risks, and changes.
  • Guide and influence the principal contractor and client, collaborating to drive project delivery and achieve schedule and cash flow KPIs.
  • Control costs utilizing knowledge of conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, and procurement principles.
  • Oversee the master program, applying quality checks to updates from the client and principal contractor.
  • Lead the change management process, providing a structured approach for tracking and approving changes in a timely manner.
  • Identify trends and root causes of deviations from the baseline using lead and lag indicators, effectively reporting any corrective actions to maximize client value.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering controls within a major project/programme environment.
  • Background in the Hi-tech & Manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience managing a multi-functional controls team.
  • Proficiency in controls and general software applications such as Primavera (P6), Power BI, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management.
  • Experience leading collaborative workshops.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Highly motivated with a commitment to client delivery and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required, even with increased remote working opportunities.
