Job Overview

Turner & Townsend is currently seeking experienced Project Controls Managers to oversee High Tech and Manufacturing initiatives. In this role, you will lead a diverse Project Controls team, collaborating closely with the client's Project Manager and supply chain to establish a realistic baseline and implement effective controls to monitor progress, address issues, and mitigate delays, ultimately driving successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish a comprehensive breakdown structure, integrating data from all controls functions.
  • Facilitate and lead estimating sessions to achieve an agreed-upon, market-tested cost baseline, focusing on value for money and budget accuracy.
  • Organize and lead planning sessions and workshops to develop the master project/programme schedule baseline, ensuring a feasible timeline.
  • Comprehend procurement principles, gathering lead times within the schedule to prioritize the ordering of materials and equipment to meet installation deadlines.
  • Oversee the risk management process, responsible for both qualitative and quantitative assessments to enhance cost and schedule predictability.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring all key stakeholders approve the baseline and receive regular progress updates.
  • Implement a thorough update process, ensuring that schedule, interfaces, costs, risks, and changes are effectively managed.
  • Guide and influence the principal contractor and client, collaborating to drive delivery and achieve schedule and cash flow KPIs.
  • Control costs utilizing your knowledge of conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, and basic procurement principles.
  • Oversee the master program, applying quality checks to updates from the client and principal contractor.
  • Lead the change management process and workflow, providing a structured platform for tracking and approving changes in a timely manner.
  • Identify trends and root causes of deviations from the baseline using lead and lag indicators, effectively reporting any necessary remedial actions to ensure optimal value for the client.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering controls within a major project/programme environment.
  • Experience in the Hi-tech & Manufacturing sector.
  • Proven ability to manage a multi-functional controls team.
  • Proficiency in controls and general software applications such as Primavera (P6), Power BI, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management.
  • Experience leading collaborative workshops.
  • Dependable with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management skills, quick thinking, and the ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and driven, with a commitment to delivering exceptional service to clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required, even with increased remote working opportunities.
